Unique Fundraising - Is it for Noble Elementary??

Hi Noble Knighters!

The PTA board has been presented with a very unique opportunity for raising funds for our school. However, before I or any of the other Board Members can commit we wanted to throw it out to the general population and get your opinion.

It is an opportunity where the payout is excellent but it does require a dedicated, reliable team of at least 30 parents. Let me explain. Basically Noble needs to have a core group of parents who are willing to work the concessions stands at the HP Pavilion for the Sharks Hockey Season through Aramark, the food service company that provides the food at HP Pavilion. You must go through a series of training on alcohol awareness, food safety, customer service, and one online training module. Then you must be willing to volunteer at at least 5 hockey games. Each volunteer time is about 5 hours. In return Aramark/HP Pavilion will donate at least $70 for each volunteer. If five parents work one game $350 or more will be donated to the school.  Last year the groups that had 10 or more people working the concession stands regularly made anywhere from $40,000 to $50,000 for the hockey season. The upside is huge.....but the commitment is too.

Ruskin Elementary has been funding their Science Lab purely from the Aramark/HP Pavilion Fundraising Program. There have not been any openings at HP Pavilion until this year so Noble was unable to join the program. There are 5 to 6 openings this year. Our chances of getting in are really good.

If Noble wants to be involved in a unique and fun fundraising opportunity let me know by sending me an e-mail by Wednesday Aug 3.

Today, I spoke with the  PTA rep at Ruskin. This is what he had to share:

"The Aramark Program has been successful. It is a volunteer program operated through the school by parents. Parent volunteers work at the HP Pavilion in the concession booths during the Shark's home games and a few special events like concerts. The events are mostly in the evenings with reporting times between 5 and 6 pm. Volunteers must report to work at their designated start time otherwise we get charged a penalty. Each shift is about 5 hours. Aramark will send an earnings report every month. All interested volunteers must go through the training and certification program. This is offered free of charge. Your certification lasts 3 years."

If we have 30 parents volunteer to take the training, not all 30 volunteers have to work at the same time. We can have a minimum of 4 people working too. However, only the people who have been trained can work. That is why we are looking for about 30 parents to commit so we can have a pool to pick from when our turn to work an event comes. Obviously, the more parents we have sign up to work the concession stands, the more money is raised for Noble Elementary.

Teachers are welcome to work as well as Sharks Fans!!! Cousins, neighbors, nieces and nephews too ..... as long as they are over the age of 18. If you own a small business and you would like to do community service, we would completely support your organization working for Noble Elementary.

There are many Sharks Home Games. The more time we put in, the more we make for the school. The time commitment is really up to you and what you want to do for your child and other children at Noble.

The Sharks Home games for this season are:
October 8, 15, 17
November 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 17, 23, 26
December 1, 3, 6, 8, 15, 17, 21, 23, 26, 28
January 5, 7, 17, 19, 31
February 2, 8, 10, 28,
March 1, 3, 6, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 31
April 7

There are a lot of opportunities for Noble Parents an Family members to come together and volunteer for a great cause. There are a lot of dates to pick from. We do not have to volunteer for every one. It's up to us. The more we put in, the more we get out.

There is no cost to you.... well, I take that back. Aramark provides the uniforms for you to be in the concession stands. You have to have black shoes and black pants. That would be your cost.

Parking is provided and you have a chance to feel the excitement of being at a Sharks Game in a sense. You will not be allowed to watch the game though.

There is no guarantee that this opportunity will exist next year. So please consider joining the pool. It would be nice to have this opportunity be successful instead of selling cookie dough and magazines and wrapping paper all year long!

Remember, the district budget just pays our teacher and administrator salaries. They also pay maintenance....basically to keep the lights on at school and the water running. The rest of our children's education is up to us. If we want our kids to experience a Spelling Bee, a Science Fair, field trips, and assemblies on various subjects then it is up to us to raise the capital to pay for it all.

I know many of you are stretched thin as is. I am too. However, if I wait for the time when I will have enough funds in the bank to actually pay for it all myself, guess what....my child will be all grown up!

I am trying to find better ways for our community to fund raise where we make a lot and our kids don't have to go door to door with catalogs and such.

So let me know what you think. Please pass this on to your friends or other parents not on the noble groups.

I have to have a final answer expressing our interest to HP Pavilion by Aug 4th. Are we a YES?!!! It's up to you!

Thanks for listening!
